Republican politicians and social media users are reacting strongly to the news that an IRS whistleblower has claimed that the Biden administration is intentionally mishandling the Hunter Biden investigation.
According to attorney Mark D. Lytle, the whistleblower is an IRS criminal supervisory agent who previously made legally protected disclosures at the IRS. These disclosures allegedly contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee.
The attorney has penned a letter requesting whistleblower privileges for his client and requesting that congressional committees facilitate sharing this information with Congress legally and with the fully informed advice of counsel.
The news has sparked outrage among Republicans, with many calling for further investigation into Hunter Biden and the Biden administration’s connection to potentially shady dealings.
Former Homeland Security Under Director Michael D. Brown wrote on social media, “Every civil servant who has this kind of information, is willing to come forth should be afforded every protection available under the law. Congress has a duty to hear the information and consider it in whatever or any investigation they are or may pursue.”
Republican politicians are also speaking out, with Kentucky Rep. James Comer calling for accountability for anyone in the administration who may be covering up this criminal activity.
While Hunter Biden has not been charged with any crimes, the allegations of preferential treatment and politics affecting protocols are a cause for concern.
