Fellow Republicans, it seems that President Joe Biden and his administration have declared war on the American way of life. They want to shut down half of our electric power plants and eliminate fossil fuels from our energy supply altogether. Are they aware that fossil fuels power over 60% of the electric power we use in the United States today?
This is just the latest scheme in their radical climate change agenda. It started with gas stoves and lightbulbs, then came the announcement of fewer gas cars after 2032. And now, they want to take away our ability to cook our food and keep us warm at night. They are even prepared to cause dangerous blackouts and brownouts, like in Third World countries.
Their plan to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions will force most of our gas- and coal-fired plants to be technologically incapable of complying. They are expecting coal and gas plants to pay for carbon offsets to make up for their carbon emissions, and who’s going to pay for that? We will, with much higher utility bills.
This is an assault on the American free enterprise system and U.S. global leadership. Their new EPA regulations aren’t about breathing cleaner air or changing the temperature of the planet. They are about turning off the lights on the U.S. economy.
We need to stand up and fight for our American way of life. Our air is already the cleanest it’s been in any of our lifetimes, and even our carbon dioxide emissions have fallen more than any other country. We aren’t the problem, but China is.
We cannot let the Biden administration cripple our industrial economy. We need to preserve our energy supply and protect our American free enterprise system. Do not let them turn off the lights on America.
