The liberal elites are at it again! The House Office of Congressional Ethics has found “substantial reason to believe” that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez improperly accepted gifts during her appearance at the 2021 Met Gala. Shocking, but not surprising.
According to the report, Ocasio-Cortez was accused of accepting “impermissible gifts associated with her attendance at the Met Gala in 2021.” This blatant disregard for House rules, standards of conduct and federal law is unacceptable.
The report recommends that the House Committee on Ethics review the allegation further, and we call on them to do so. It’s time to hold Ocasio-Cortez accountable for her actions.
It’s important to note that Ocasio-Cortez “received a series of goods and services which she did not pay for” associated with her attendance at the Met Gala. This includes a couture dress, handbag, shoes, and jewelry, as well as hair, makeup, transportation, and ready-room services. Her partner, Riley Roberts, even received a bowtie and shoes in advance of the event. All of this, without paying a dime.
While Ocasio-Cortez appears to have now paid for the rental value of the attire she wore to the Met Gala and for the goods and services she and her partner received, payment did not occur until after the OCE contacted her in connection with this review.
This is not only suspicious, but it shows a blatant disregard for rules and regulations. Ocasio-Cortez’s counsel claims that this matter isn’t a violation of House rules. However, we believe that this is just another example of the elites getting away with breaking the rules.
We call on the House Committee on Ethics to thoroughly review this matter and hold Ocasio-Cortez accountable for her actions. It’s time for her to be held to the same standard as everyone else. The American people deserve better.
