Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn has officially endorsed Donald Trump for president, joining the growing list of Republican officials who support the former president’s candidacy for 2024.
In a tweet, Sen. Blackburn stated that under President Trump’s leadership, the economy was booming, gas prices were low, inflation was under control, and our military was strong. She expressed her pride in endorsing Donald Trump for president and her eagerness to see him back in the White House.
This endorsement follows that of Rep. Byron Donalds from Florida earlier this month, who became the third Republican from the state to endorse Trump, despite Gov. Ron DeSantis being widely expected to enter the race. Even Senate Judiciary Ranking Member Lindsey Graham has shown early support for the former president.
As of now, Donald Trump is the Republican favorite to take the nomination and is ahead in the polls by double digits against DeSantis. However, a recent poll from Quinnipiac University suggests that a majority of Americans believe Trump should be disqualified from running for the White House due to criminal charges he faces in ongoing local and federal investigations.
Despite these challenges, Trump’s fundraising has skyrocketed since his indictment, with his campaign reporting nearly $18.8 million in the January-March quarter of 2023 fundraising.
In the two weeks following the news of Trump’s indictment, he hauled in $15.4 million, making him the first former president in U.S. history to be charged with a crime.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Donald Trump’s presidential aspirations, but his growing list of endorsements and fundraising success suggests that he remains a strong contender for the Republican nomination.
