You Won’t Believe The Latest Poll Results On Immigration Policies

Americans are growing increasingly skeptical of President Biden’s ability to handle the economy as his 2024 re-election campaign looms. A recent poll conducted by the Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center (AP-NORC) at the University of Chicago has shed light on these concerns.

According to the survey, only 33% of Americans approve of Biden’s performance on economic issues. This dismal rating reflects a lack of confidence in his strategies and policies. Furthermore, the poll revealed that Americans are similarly skeptical of Biden’s ability to handle guns and immigration, with approval ratings of just 31% for both these critical issues.

Although Biden’s overall approval rating has seen a slight increase to 40%, the numbers remain far from impressive. Previous polls showed the president struggling with approval ratings as low as 36% earlier this year. While there has been a marginal improvement, it is clear that Americans are still wary of his performance.

The AP-NORC poll was conducted from May 11 to May 15 and involved surveying 1,680 U.S. adults. The reported margin of error is 3.4%, indicating a high level of accuracy.

Biden’s struggles with immigration and the economy come at a time when his administration is facing significant backlash for the end of Title 42. The termination of this policy has led to a surge in illegal immigration, reaching record-breaking numbers under Biden’s watch.

When Biden assumed office in 2021, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported approximately 100,000 encounters each month. However, by last fall, this number had skyrocketed to well over 230,000 encounters. CBP agents were tracking more than 250,000 border crossings for several months.

In contrast, former President Trump consistently polled better than Biden on economic issues and immigration. Americans felt more confident in Trump’s ability to tackle inflation and handle immigration-related challenges.

The recent decision to end Title 42 sparked fierce criticism from Republicans, who argue that the move has exacerbated the border crisis. Immigration reached record daily levels in the days leading up to the termination of Title 42, fueled by a reported whisper campaign among migrants who believed it was the opportune time to enter the U.S.

However, since the policy’s end, certain areas have seen a 70% drop in illegal immigration, suggesting that stricter measures can effectively curb the problem.

These poll results highlight the skepticism and concerns shared by many Americans regarding Biden’s economic policies and immigration management. As the 2024 re-election campaign approaches, the president will need to address these issues head-on to regain the trust of the American people.
