Unlikely Defender, You Won’t Believe Who’s Supporting Trump

The political witch hunt against former President Donald Trump continues, this time with left-wing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicting Trump on Thursday. But Governor Ron DeSantis is not taking this lying down. The popular Republican governor, who is seen as Trump’s biggest potential rival for the 2024 GOP nominee, defended Trump on Saturday during a fundraiser in Garden City, N.Y.

DeSantis did not mince words when it came to Bragg, pronouncing him “a menace to society” and a threat to democratic government. According to ADN America, DeSantis said, “His whole thing is he doesn’t want people to be in jail, he wants to downgrade felonies to misdemeanors. Really, really dangerous stuff. And then he turns around, and does a flimsy indictment against a former president of the United States. All these legal gymnastics to act like this is a felony – when almost every other time, he’s trying to take the felonies and downgrade them.”

DeSantis, who has a law degree from Harvard University, continued to say, “This guy is doing politics! He has an agenda, that is not the rule of law.” His comments received a standing ovation from the attendees, according to The New York Post.

DeSantis went on to tout his record as governor of Florida, where he has been successful in executing his agenda without any leaks or palace intrigue for over four years. While he did not directly mention Trump during his speech, DeSantis criticized President Joe Biden, who he described as weak and floundering.

Trump, who is considered a leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is scheduled to appear for arraignment in New York City on Tuesday. Although the details of the indictment have not been made public, it is expected to be related to Trump’s alleged involvement in the 2016 hush money scandal.
