Former President Trump arrived in New York City ahead of his expected arraignment, and Americans outside Trump Tower had mixed reactions to his indictment.
Alan from the Bronx said, “I think the government is messing up, and they think that this is going to help not get Trump elected again. I think it’s going to backfire.” On the other hand, Bill supported the indictment, saying that Trump will get a fair trial and that he will be convicted. He added that he doesn’t think Trump will go to prison, but he won’t win reelection.
While some Americans believe that the indictment is a political move, others think that justice needs to be served. Taysha from New York said that the focus should be on other crimes that are happening, such as murder and carjackings, but Rick, a 34-year New Yorker, said that Trump is guilty and won’t get a fair trial anywhere.
Trump is expected to plead not guilty to charges related to hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Despite the charges, Trump denies having sexual relations with Daniels and falsifying business records to conceal the payment.
