Hey, high schoolers, let’s talk about something important – the debt ceiling. You might not think it’s a big deal, but it is. President Biden’s recent refusal to negotiate with Republicans on the issue is putting America at risk.
Here’s the deal. Republicans have proposed a plan to raise the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion, but only if there are cuts to the IRS, the budget-busting green energy agenda, and unused COVID funding. Biden, however, is not interested in negotiating. He’s more interested in pushing his radical agenda and name-calling.
But here’s the thing – if we don’t raise the debt ceiling, it could lead to disastrous consequences. Social Security and federal pension payments might cease, federal agencies would furlough employees, and vital economic services such as the post office, Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Customs and the Federal Aviation Administration would stop. It’s not good.
Leadership is about finding common ground and doing what’s best for the American people. It’s time for Biden to put his ego aside and work with Republicans to find a solution that benefits everyone.
So, high schoolers, let’s make sure we’re paying attention to what’s happening in Washington. The debt ceiling issue might seem boring, but it’s important. And we need our leaders to work together to find a solution that will keep America safe and strong.
