The Hidden Truth Behind Mayor Adams’ Record Budget Proposal: How Illegal Immigration is Breaking the Bank

The Biden administration’s indifference towards the nation’s borders is now affecting New York City taxpayers, who are facing the consequences in their pockets.

Internal documents from City Hall indicate that the growing migrant crisis could cost the city approximately $4.2 billion by mid-2024, surpassing Mayor Eric Adams’ initial worst-case projections.

While it is well-known that the Democrats have a soft stance on illegal immigration, their inadequate policies have significant repercussions. Governor Kathy Hochul’s plan to provide $1 billion in migrant aid to the city over two years would only cover a small fraction of the shelter expenses.

Additionally, the Office of Management and Budget has warned that Hochul’s budget proposal would reduce overall state aid to the city, further burdening taxpayers.

The Mayor’s lack of foresight and financial accountability is concerning. Despite proposing a record $102.7 billion budget, Mayor Adams failed to take into account the recurring costs of the migrant crisis. Instead, the City Hall plans to spend $1.4 billion on migrants in fiscal 2023 and $2.8 billion in fiscal 2024, totalling $4.2 billion.

Not only is this a financial crisis, but it also poses a threat to public safety. The city has been providing bus tickets to transport migrants to northern New York, where they illegally cross into Canada. This continuous disregard for the law must stop.

The Biden administration has only allocated a mere $8 million of the $1 billion requested by Mayor Adams, leaving the majority of the expenses to American taxpayers.

It is imperative for the federal government, under President Biden’s leadership, to secure the borders and stop passing the buck to American cities, putting their safety at risk.

It’s high time for Republicans to take a stand and say enough is enough. The Democrats’ support for illegal immigration may appeal to their supporters, but it is not in the best interest of our nation.

We must prioritize the safety and financial stability of American citizens, not cater to the needs of illegal immigrants seeking better opportunities in the country.
