Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell has once again found himself in the spotlight after Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene roasted him during a congressional hearing on Wednesday. During the hearing, Swalwell spoke and Greene responded, “That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy. And everyone knows it!”
Swalwell immediately tried to have Greene’s words taken down, but after minutes of deliberation, the statement was not stricken from the record. This is not the first time that Swalwell has faced scrutiny over his past relationship with a suspected Chinese intelligence operative, Fang Fang.
This incident is another embarrassment for Swalwell in what has been a rough week for the congressman. Just the day before, Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticized Swalwell for his luxury travel paid for by his campaign donors.
Carlson referenced Swalwell’s past relationship with Fang and joked about his spending habits. Chadwick Moore, a contributor at The Spectator, joined Carlson to discuss the congressman’s spending and activities in different cities.
Swalwell has faced numerous criticisms and allegations of misconduct in the past. It is unclear how this latest incident will affect his career or reputation, but it is certainly not a positive development for the congressman.
