A recent Fox News investigation has uncovered that Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and several other politicians, including two Democrats and one Republican, have made significant campaign contributions to a Chinese foreign agent.
The recipients of these funds, Sing Tao U.S., is a subsidiary of the Hong Kong-based Sing Tao News Corporation Ltd, and was used by the campaigns for advertising expenses during the midterm election.
The Department of Justice designated Sing Tao U.S. as a foreign agent due to the rising tensions between the US and China. Despite this designation, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign spent nearly $1,500 on advertisements with the company during the midterm elections.
Reps. Kevin Mullin, Grace Meng, and Nicole Malliotakis also contributed between $1,000 and $7,000 to various Sing Tao entities for their campaign advertising expenses.
Sing Tao U.S. operates Chinese language publications in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and also owns a radio station in Burlingame, California. The company is considered pro-Beijing and receives over half of its content from the Chinese company Star Production (Shenzhen) Limited.
Although Sing Tao U.S. claims to be free from Chinese Communist Party influence, the Chinese government exerts strict control over its media, relying on censorship and repression of dissident journalists to maintain control.
This latest revelation raises serious questions about the judgement and loyalty of these politicians to the United States and its citizens. The American people deserve to know the truth about their elected officials and the actions they take with taxpayer money.
