New York Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has remained tight-lipped about whether she plans to challenge fellow New York Democrat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand for one of New York’s Senate seats in 2024.
AOC doesn't rule out challenging Gillibrand, tells reporter 'don't ask me that question' https://t.co/D2BEgiAwDn— Fox News (@FoxNews) April 3, 2023
In a recent profile for Politico, AOC refused to answer the question and told the reporter to print her response. This has left many wondering whether she is considering a run for the Senate or not.
It’s worth noting that AOC has other issues to contend with, including a recent report from the House Office of Congressional Ethics, which found that she may have violated federal law by accepting “impermissible gifts” linked to her attendance at the 2021 Met Gala.
The report states that there is “substantial reason to believe” that AOC accepted gifts associated with her attendance at the Met Gala and that the Committee should further review the allegation.
Given these controversies, it’s unclear whether AOC will decide to pursue a run for the Senate or not. However, it’s clear that she is focused on her career in politics and continues to be a vocal and influential figure on the national stage.
