It’s a sad state of affairs when the leader of the free world disregards the very principles that this country was founded on. But that’s exactly what we’re seeing from President Biden. From his unconstitutional executive actions to his handling of classified documents, it’s clear that he thinks he’s above the law.
Let’s start with his executive actions. Whether it’s ordering immigration officers to ignore the law or implementing an unlawful OSHA vaccine mandate, President Biden has repeatedly shown that he doesn’t believe in the concept of limited government. Fortunately, state attorneys general have stepped up to defend the rule of law and have taken the president to court.
In fact, just recently Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton scored a victory against Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The court struck down an agency rule that threatened to cut federal funding to Texas and other states that prohibit child sex change surgeries.
But it’s not just his executive actions that are causing concern. President Biden’s handling of classified documents is equally troubling. It’s been revealed that he illegally stored classified documents in his garage for years. As a former Department of Justice official with top secret clearance, I can attest to the fact that this is a serious breach of protocol and a disregard for the law.
Classified documents must never be stored in boxes in a garage. They must be kept in a safe, inside a locked office, in a secured building guarded by federal officers. This is not a suggestion, it’s a rule. And yet, President Biden seems to have no regard for these rules.
To make matters worse, the administration’s response to the discovery of these documents has been equally troubling. Media reports and official statements suggest that both the White House and Department of Justice failed to take necessary steps when they learned of the first set of classified documents. Highly sensitive information was allowed to remain for months in unsecured locations.
In addition, private representatives of the president were allowed to control the search for more documents and, eventually, to handle even more classified documents. Some of these reportedly do not themselves hold security clearances.
This is not the kind of leadership that we need. Americans deserve a president who follows the law and leads with transparency and accountability.
Instead, we have a president who thinks he’s above the law and an administration that is unwilling to take responsibility for their actions. It’s time for President Biden to be held accountable for his actions. The rule of law and the security of our nation depend on it.
