GUESS Who’s Back in the Headlines: A Scandal That Keeps on Giving

Fellow Republicans, I have an update on the disgraceful saga of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

As you may remember, Cuomo left office in a whirlwind of scandal, and now, the courageous Charlotte Bennett, who accused Cuomo of sexual harassment, is taking the fight to the state of New York.

Bennett filed a lawsuit in state court on Wednesday, claiming the state government is accountable for Cuomo’s actions and the inaction of his aides.

This lawsuit comes on the heels of Bennett’s previous legal action against Cuomo and his executive staff.

Last September, Bennett accused Cuomo and his staff of retaliation after she reported the former governor’s alleged misconduct.

The current lawsuit targets the state for sexual harassment and retaliation claims. Bennett’s claims against Cuomo were disturbing, to say the least.

She alleged that Cuomo subjected her to sexualized comments about her appearance and assigned her humiliating tasks.

The former governor is also accused of inquiring about her personal life, romantic and sexual relationships, and her history as a survivor of sexual assault.

Cuomo even went so far as to tell Bennett he was “lonely” and open to dating someone over the age of 21.

Bennett was just 25 at the time. In a shocking revelation, Bennett also accused Cuomo of making “sexual advances” and recalled an incident on June 25, 2020.

According to Bennett, Cuomo commented on how her mask moved while she breathed, comparing it to the monsters in the movie “Predator.”

Despite these allegations, Cuomo has continued to deny any wrongdoing. Rita Glavin, Cuomo’s spokesperson, has claimed that the former governor “didn’t harass anyone” and that evidence favorable to him was suppressed .

Bennett’s initial lawsuit alleges that Cuomo’s staff, including former chief of staff Jill DesRosiers, former secretary Melissa DeRosa, and special counsel Judith Mogul, “aided and abetted” the sexual harassment. When Bennett reported the alleged harassment, she was transferred to an “inferior position” on the health policy team.

The relentless pursuit of justice by Charlotte Bennett is a powerful reminder of the corruption and misconduct within Cuomo’s administration.

This is a story that should serve as a warning to all politicians who believe they can abuse their power without consequence.

We, as proud Republicans, must stand against such behavior and ensure that our leaders are held accountable for their actions.
