New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez recently appeared on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” where he claimed that Mexican drug cartels control the Southern border.
According to Menendez, the Mexican government has chosen a different approach to deal with the cartels and seems unwilling to work with the United States.
The senator emphasized the need for the United States to increase its engagement with Mexico in terms of safety and security, rather than just economics.
He also criticized President Biden for potentially bringing back family detention at the border, saying that he would become the “Asylum Denier-in-Chief” if he did so.
Chris Magnus, the former commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, resigned a few months ago, and Menendez believes that the Biden administration is heading in the wrong direction on security issues and democracy questions.
