In his forthcoming book, “Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love,” former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has reportedly taken aim at Nikki Haley with scathing remarks. He claims that she and another former member of the Trump administration were scheming to unseat Vice President Mike Pence.
According to the reports, Pompeo expresses his anger over a meeting that took place in the Oval Office between Haley and Donald Trump while she was serving as his UN ambassador.
Pompeo accuses Haley of tricking John Kelly, the former chief of staff, into believing she was meeting with the president alone. However, Haley was reportedly accompanied by Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
Pompeo alleges that Kelly was misled and was not happy about it. This meeting fueled ongoing speculation about whether Trump was considering replacing Pence with Haley as his running mate.
In addition to targeting Haley’s political aspirations, Pompeo also criticizes her performance as UN ambassador, which he dismisses as a relatively unimportant role, and her writing as she explores a potential run for President.
Pompeo goes on to claim that Haley “threw in the towel” when she resigned from her post in October 2018, deserting both the President and her constituents in South Carolina.
