A new poll from Rasmussen Reports has shown that former President Donald Trump has increased his lead over President Joe Biden, and his likely 2024 Republican opponent, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In the poll, Trump leads Biden by a margin of 47% to 40%, while DeSantis has a 46% to 38% advantage over the incumbent president.
The poll was conducted on Wednesday, just days after Trump was indicted on 34 charges related to campaign finance violations. Despite the legal troubles, Trump continues to maintain strong support among women and independent voters.
Among women, Trump leads Biden by a margin of 47% to 39%, while DeSantis leads Biden among women by a margin of 43% to 39%. Trump leads Biden among independent voters by a margin of 44% to 36%, while DeSantis leads Biden among independents by a margin of 44% to 32%.
The poll also found that both Trump and DeSantis would receive 26% of the black vote if the election were held this week.
The poll results are a boost for Trump, who is still facing legal challenges related to the 2020 election. Despite the charges against him, he has remained popular among Republican voters and has not ruled out another run for president in 2024.
